Moodle is a course management system that teachers can use to create quality online courses and adminisiter them to their students.
Its used particularly in higher education and further education.
It allows teachers to manage their classes, assignments, quizzes, activities and tests.
Moodle is easy to use and students can log on and work at anytime, anywhere.
Moodle began in 1999 and it is said that by june 2005 there were about 3,500 Moodle sites in more than 100 countries.
Now the software is used all over the world by companies, schools, universities and independent teachers.
Lessons, Quizzes, and Resources are three modules than can be used in moodle.
The Lessons module allows teachers to post lessons. Teachers can post questions after each lesson. The questions can in different formats for example. multiple choice, short answer, essay, matching, true/false etc.
The Quzzies module test students on the content. The quizzes are automaticaly graded.
Resources module gives the class access to websites, articles and readings for research.
A good feature of moodle is that it allows users to chat. Users can talk to each other in real time, like an instant message system. There is also audio/video conferencing available with the chat service. Other features are forums and glossaries. Forums allow students to discuss various topics, and with glossaries, teachers can create a list of terms and link them from other areas of moodle.

This is ugly...BUT very informative. This can help teaches keep their classroom assigments in order. I like all of the features that it provides.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree that this would probably be very useful for teachers. It seems to be a very organized setup and I like that their is an option for students to chat. That can be very useful.
ReplyDeleteVirtual school is getting big and with this so does moodle. Moodle is great resources for teachers and students. It allows students to have all the information readily available and to be able to go on their own pace, in some occasions. The organization plan of moodle is great. I love taking online courses. Yet, I am not quite happy with the moodle program at FIU. I feel like Webct is so much easier and student friendly. Maybe I will just need time to get use to it.
ReplyDeleteI think that moodle a very user-friendly tool for all students taking online classes and any teacher using it to keep track of assignments for their classroom by having the students take the quizzes online and posting informative information for students to review. Overall, I think that moodle is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think Moodle is very useful for students AND teachers. It provides quick access to assignments and anything covered in the class such as a powerpoint can be uploaded and viewed from any computer as long as you have an account. It also enables students to email their teachers or chat with other students about any questions they have.
ReplyDeleteI feel Moodle is great for students and teachers. As a student I feel that it’s an excellent resource to keep up with all the assignments. It’s also an excellent communication tool for students and teachers.
ReplyDeleteMoodle is awesome! Especially for classes that are partially/entirely online. It is easy to follow and use. It is definitely a good source becasue students love it. To use it in high school and be successful, it would definitely depend on the culture and nature of the school. However, if I approprite its a good way to turn in work, keep up with grades, make articles available to everyone, etc. Thanks for sharing. :)
